Make Sure it's Legal

Up to 200 British and Canadian newlywed couples are finding out the hard way that their marriages aren't legit. The couples, married in the Dominican Republic at a Punta Cana resort were scammed. CD98.9 reports...
Officials say the 200 couples who tied the knot at a Punta Cana vacation spot in the past few months were scammed by a fake judge and a wedding coordinator. But now Dominican officials say they will issue real marriage certificates for those weddings over the next three months. If you have reason to believe your Dominican wedding was not legit you should call the Embassy at (613) 569-9893.
Steps are being put into place to ensure this cannot happen again but it's a good reminder to those planning out of country weddings to double check your paperwork is in proper order.
